First Updates from Our “75 Acts of Kindness” Campaign
March 15, 2024
RDAbbott is sharing initial updates from its “75 Acts of Kindness” campaign, a year-long effort to mark the company’s 75th Anniversary. Robert David Abbott, a Southern California entrepreneur with a passion for education and the local rubber industry, founded the business that bears his name on December 14, 1948. Today, RDAbbott remains true to its founder’s generous spirit and is inspiring others to participate in philanthropic efforts that serve the various needs within its local communities.
As part of RDAbbott’s kindness campaign, employees from its Barberton, Ohio, Service Center have been unloading pallets for Common Threads Closet, a non-profit organization that distributes shoes, clothing, and household items to those in need. RDAbbott’s efforts have even inspired Wooster Steel and ARDL, two other local businesses, to ask the Barberton Service Center how they could help. A recent update from Ariana Marich, RDAbbott’s Commercial Events Planner, prompted reflection and celebration.
Keith Thomas, RDAbbott’s CEO, thanked Marich for sharing what he called “fantastic news” and noted how “small acts have big impacts.” Jerry McCall, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, also thanked the volunteers and reflected how “leading by example seeds increased involvement.”
NovationSi, RDAbbott’s manufacturing subsidiary, is also part of the 75 Acts of Kindness campaign. When Mike Zuercher, NovationSi Maintenance Manager, told his “Friends of Corvair” car club about RDAbbott’s efforts, the automotive enthusiasts raced to assist. Along with winter gear, they’ve gathered items for a local women’s shelter and canned goods for a homeless shelter. RDAbbott hopes this spirit of generosity will continue to spread as its 75 Acts of Kindness continue throughout 2024.
So far this year, RDAbbott employees in Ohio, California, and Washington have all donated much-needed items to organizations that include food pantries, senior centers, the Salvation Army, and Lighthouse Missions. Recent acts of kindness include assembling snack boxes for children, helping neighbors with heavy bags of groceries, snack bags and for freight drivers, and donating pre-paid laundromat gift cards. They’re all cause for celebration, especially because each act of kindness is like a ripple in a pond that spreads.
