Holiday Video Brings a Christmas Classic to the Rubber Industry

RDAbbott and NovationSi RDAbbott’s manufacturing subsidiary, have released a holiday video that transforms a classic Christmas poem into a tale from today’s rubber industry. ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, an eighteenth-century poem* that is credited to various authors, features a cast of RDAbbott and NovationSi employees from the companies’ Garden Grove, California, and Barberton, Ohio Service Centers.

The video begins in a quiet warehouse where Tom Martin, Sr., RDAbbott’s Special Projects Manager, sits near racks of gifts and stockings while reading a parody of the classic poem aloud as Santa Claus. The video then captures scenes from the Barberton and Garden Grove facilities as silicone-molded ornaments are made and hung, holiday cookies are taste-tested, and salespeople celebrate year-end bookings. The video features employees from across the organization, including members of their executive team.

The video concludes with Santa taking a short ride on a forklift to receive more presents from an awaiting freight truck.

Each year, Tom Martin reads the original version of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas at RDAbbott’s holiday party before donning this same Santa suit and distributing presents to the children and grandchildren of employees.

This year’s video is the sixth in a series of RDAbbott holiday productions. Previous videos include “Feliz Navidad” (2017), “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” (2018), “Deck the Labs” (2019), “The RDAbbott Bunch” (2020), and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” (2021).

Although this year’s video is a modern parody of a Christmas classic, its last lines remain the same: “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight.”

*’Twas the Night Before Christmas is generally regarded as having been written by Clement Clarke Moore; however, some claim that the true author is Henry Livingston, Jr.
