In-Mold Bonding Adhesives from LORD

LORD Corporation has delivered a new, ground-breaking In-Mold Bonding (IMB™) Adhesive Technology to transform plastic and silicone component assemblies.

IMB™ Adhesives are non-tacky polymer-based materials that, when applied to a rigid substrate, provide a structural bond when over-molded with a thermoplastic or liquid silicone rubber. This new technology enables assemblies between plastics, silicones, and metals to be made during the molding process.

In many different applications, this technology has been proven to provide greater design flexibility and versatility; increased throughput; cost, material, and labor savings; as well as resistance to liquid or gas ingress/egress between different materials.

Here are a few of the recommended applications:

  • Wearables
  • Cell phones
  • Accessories
  • Handles and grips
  • Automotive components
  • Gaskets and seals
  • Electrical connectors

When bonding with fluorosilicone, this technology has also been proven to provide improved heat resistance and resistance to fuel for extreme applications like critical aerospace composite materials.
