Visit RDAbbott and NovationSi in Booth 607 at the 2024 International Elastomer Conference (IEC), hosted by the Rubber Division, ACS from September 9 to 12 in Pittsburgh, PA. While you’re there, be sure to swing by our booth for a fresh cup of coffee in the mornings and chat with our team members about the latest elastomer products and technologies available through our supplier partners.
Alpha Technologies is sponsoring an interactive quiz through Rubber News about rubber raw materials. This short seven-question quiz is available through mid-July and prompts participants to answer questions about processing, polymerization, and testing. All quiz takers will receive a free digital copy of “6 Test Methods to Reduce Raw Material Variation,” an e-book from Alpha Technologies. There will also be a drawing for a Grand Prize and Second Prize during the week of July 15, 2024.
Join us August 27 – 30 in Barberton, Ohio, for “Manufacturing with Silicone Rubber,” a comprehensive workshop hosted by RDAbbott from a fabricator’s point-of-view. Attendees of this four-day workshop will learn practical techniques, testing methods, and insights, plus equipment troubleshooting tips for processing silicone rubber from industry professionals through a combination of classroom instruction and interactive workshops.
Electrical resistivity is an important property for various EPDM applications, such as wire and cable, battery and fuel cell gaskets, and automotive profiles. To achieve the specified electrical resistivity values in these applications, it is necessary to replace smaller particle size furnace blacks with mineral fillers and/or larger particle size carbon blacks. This 47-minute presentation highlights the results of Cancarb’s technical study that compared blends of hard clay, Thermax® N990, and N550, and evaluated how the size, structure, and surface chemistry of these filler systems impact the insulative and conductive behaviors of the EPDM compounds.

Alpha Technologies is offering an extension for its Premier™ Rubber Process Analyzer (RPA) that can increase safety and reduce costs. Known as “Sub-Zero Technology,” this enhancement can test compounds at temperatures as low as -25°C without the use of liquid nitrogen.
Alpha Technologies has published a study about rubber process analyzers (RPA), viscoelastic properties, and mix quality in a recent Technical Notebook for Rubber News. Authors John Dick and Richard Hanzlik compare the relative advantages of various viscoelastic properties that an RPA can measure. This article is the first in a two-part series by the authors.
Alpha Technologies has published a study about measuring the quality of mixes that contain recycled rubber powders (RRP). The authors compared ASTM test standards that are designed for use with rubber process analyzers and determined which tests are most and least effective with RRPs.
RDAbbott will showcase its extensive portfolio of elastomer products and technologies at the International Elastomers Conference (IEC), an industry-leading event hosted by the Rubber Division, ACS in Knoxville, Tennessee, from October 10 to 13 (Booth 613). RDAbbott will also highlight the capabilities of its supplier partners who are exhibiting and, in some cases, presenting technical papers during IEC’s Technical Conference.
