Hallstar Supports Future of STEM Scholars’ Initiative

Hallstar, a Chicago-based provider of specialty chemical solutions, is supporting the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) by sponsoring a chemistry student from one of the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). FOSSI, the chemical industry’s equity, diversity and inclusion initiative, provides pathways for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) majors at HBCUs to enter and succeed in chemistry careers.

FOSSI is a partnership between the American Chemistry Council, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), Chemours, and the HBCU Week Foundation. FOSSI was launched in 2020 and is a core initiative of AIChE’s “Doing a World of Good” campaign and its “All for Good: Engineering and Inclusion” priority. Hallstar’s $40,000 investment will sponsor a FOSSI Scholar over the next four years.
