How to Mix Millathane Millable Polyurethane Rubber
June 1, 2026
TSE Industries, the world’s largest manufacturer of millable urethane rubber, has published an article that explains how to mix its Millathane® Millable Polyurethanes. These strong and abrasion-resistant elastomers can be processed using conventional rubber equipment, but achieving consistent, high-quality results requires a controlled and well-structured approach to mixing.
Steps to Mixing Success
As the article explains, TSE recommends a three-step approach.
- Start with a controlled mill environment
- Build the compound in stages
- Manage temperature before final additions
The best way to begin is to band Millathane® on a mill to create a uniform base. Once the base polymer is masticated, add processing ingredients in a controlled sequence. Before adding curatives, however, allow the compound to cool. Temperature control is critical during each step.
Benefits of Proper Mixing
By properly performing each step, compounders can achieve:
- Consistent physical properties
- Improved processing behavior
- Reliable end-use performance
A YouTube video that’s embedded in the article shows the Millathane® mixing process and further describes its benefits.
