LSR 2026: From Art to Part (September 14 – 17)
June 1, 2026
Join us in Akron, Ohio, from September 14 – 17 for LSR 2026 and follow a liquid silicone rubber (LSR) component from concept to finished part. This year’s event takes designers and fabricators through the full “art to part” journey with technical presentations led by industry experts.
Hosted by Executive Conference Management (ECM) and sponsored by RDAbbott and BOY Machines, LSR 2026 brings the industry together in the heart of the rubber industry. The event also offers valuable opportunities to connect with peers, suppliers, and technology providers.
RDAbbott has been part of the LSR Conference since 2017 and is a sponsor and exhibitor for this year’s event. Brian Swanton, Director of Process Engineering for NovationSi, is part of the organizing committee and will be presenting. RDAbbott’s Barberton Service Center, co-located with NovationSi, will also host an Open House on September 17 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Topics at LSR 2026
LSR 2026 covers the full spectrum of liquid silicone rubber, from material selection and product design to tooling, processing, and production. Key topics include:
- Medical device development and clinical considerations
- Material performance, compliance, and testing
- Product design, prototyping, and manufacturability
- Mold design, tooling strategies, and additive manufacturing
- Simulation and virtual engineering for process optimization
- Processing technologies, equipment, and automation
- Advanced applications including coatings, dispensing, and multi-material molding
- Regulatory requirements for medical and food-contact applications
Our Technical Presentation
NovationSi’s Brian Swanton will present Breaking Barriers in Liquid Silicone Rubber by Customizing LSRs. He will explain how LSR customization can expand performance capabilities, improve processing, and support application-specific requirements. Today, small-volume customization is no longer limited to off-the-shelf durometers or traditional third-streaming approaches.
This presentation will cover:
- Third streaming versus pre-compounded solutions and their trade-offs
- How and when to modify one or both components of a two-part system
- Designing custom formulations to meet specific application needs
LSR molding continues to grow as a market segment, and success depends on understanding how to align material, process, and performance requirements.
Our Partners’ Technical Presentations
In addition to Brian Swanton’s presentation, these partner-led sessions offer more ways to explore the LSR value chain. You’ll find practical insight into material selection, processing approaches, and real-world performance, helping connect the steps that move ideas from art to part.
- Material Matters: Selecting Liquid Silicone Rubber for Medical Applications by Tyler Heyl of Dow (Tuesday, September 15, from 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM)
- Processing Power: Transforming LSR into Limitless Solutions by Dr. Noel Chang of Dow (Wednesday, September 16, from 9:15 AM – 10:00 AM)
- Sealability Under Fire: Advanced CSR Insights for LSR in Flame-Retardant Connector Designs by Jason Reese of Dow and Jesse Braun of Aptiv Connection Systems (Wednesday, September 16, from 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM)
RDAbbott Open House Highlights (September 17)
As part of LSR 2026, RDAbbott will host an Open House at our Barberton Service Center, offering a closer look at LSR processing, materials, and application development.
What to expect:
- Live liquid injection molding demonstrations featuring Dow and DuPont silicones; NovaSperse® color dispersions and additives from NovationSi, and equipment from ARBURG and ENGEL
- Short presentations highlighting RDAbbott and NovationSi capabilities, the processing setup, and the materials running during the demonstration
- Guided tour of the RDAbbott Barberton facility
- Networking with industry peers over a complimentary lunch
This Open House extends the “art to part” experience by showing how formulation, processing, and equipment decisions come together in a real manufacturing environment.
How to Register
Industry professionals are encouraged to register for LSR 2026 to take advantage of early-bird pricing. The registration fee is $1,295 for submissions received before August 1, 2026, and $1,595 thereafter.
The event will be held at the DoubleTree Akron-Fairlawn, which is offering a special conference rate of $139 per night. Opportunities are also available for tabletop exhibits and event sponsorship.
