RDAbbott Co-Organizes Healthcare Elastomers Conference and Plans Exhibits and Technical Presentation

RDAbbott is co-organizing the 2019 Healthcare Elastomers Conference with Rubber and Plastics News (RPN), the rubber industry’s international resource for news, data, and technical information, and PolyOne Corporation, a premier provider of specialized polymer materials, services and solutions.
At the event, RDAbbott will share tabletop exhibits and a technical presentation about an innovative technology for microbial protection in elastomers. The conference is scheduled for May 21 – 22 at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel in Schaumburg, IL.
“Healthcare elastomers have a unique set of properties that separate them from thermoplastics and rigid plastics, in general” says Rick Ziebell, Technology Fellow for RDAbbott and a conference chair for the 2019 Healthcare Elastomers Conference. “Our goal for this event is to highlight new technologies, trends and ideas in elastomer design and function for engineers within the medical community. It’s a valuable opportunity to learn, make connections, and find solutions.”
As a co-organizer of the 2019 Healthcare Elastomers Conference, RDAbbott helped to finalize the agenda of technical presentations from industry leaders. The conference committee, which is co-chaired by Ziebell and Bernard Powell, senior product manager for PolyOne’s distribution business, has approved abstracts for presentations about rapidly advancing areas, such as: additive manufacturing, wearable medical devices, pharmaceutical packaging, virtual processing and design optimizations.
Ziebell will present “Microbial Protection in Healthcare Elastomers” on Wednesday, May 22, from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM. The RDAbbott Technology Fellow will describe how KHG fiteBac®, an antimicrobial technology used in an FDA-cleared dental device for long-term oral cavity use, is now available as ready-made NovaSperse® dispersions. KHG fiteBac® Technology, a platform owned by Kimmerling Holdings Group, LLC, destroys living microbes on the surface and inside the bulk of the elastomer.
At the 2019 Healthcare Elastomers Conference, RDAbbott will also share tabletop exhibits with engineers and other industrial professionals who design medical devices, supply and manufacture silicone and thermoplastic compounds, and provide advanced energy and chemical innovations globally. The RDAbbott booth will be conveniently located near the registration area.
