Thermax® N990CG medium thermal carbon black meets the requirements for carbon black specified in EU 10/2011, enabling its use in water gaskets. It also carries an effective Food Contact Notification (FCN No. 2420), allowing it to be used in applications covered under CFR 177.2600 rubber articles intended for repeated use. By watching this webinar recording, you’ll learn how Thermax® N990CG can serve as a drop-in replacement for standard N990 in rubber formulations, while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements for food contact and consumer goods.
Cancarb Limited has published a Technical Bulletin that shows how formulating EPDM sponge rubber compounds with Thermax® N990 reduces mixing power consumption and improves elongation while maintaining physical properties and achieving an excellent surface finish.
Thermax® N990CG from Cancarb Limited meets U.S. and European Union (EU) regulations for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), chemicals that have been classified as carcinogenic to humans. Thermax® N990CG meets EU 1272/2013 and EU 10/2011 standards and has a Food Contact Notification (FCN) from the FDA.

Cancarb is underscoring its commitment to sustainability by installing 7,000 solar panels near its carbon black plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. The project will provide the production facility with approximately 3.5 MW of renewable energy and supports the sustainability goals of Cancarb’s parent company and its customers.
RDAbbott now distributes select products from DENKA, one of the world’s largest producers of acetylene black, throughout North America. The distribution agreement includes the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Join us on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, for the Ontario Rubber Group Spring Technical Meeting at the Mississauga Grand Banquet & Event Center in Mississauga, Ontario. Running from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, this event will feature expert presentations on a variety of topics, including industry tariffs, rubber process analyzers, and recycled carbon black. Among the featured speakers, RDAbbott’s Director of Business Development, Steve Griffin, will share the latest advancements in conductive silicone elastomers.
Over the past year, RDAbbott employees across North America partnered with more than 55 organizations, including food banks, shelters, senior centers, and schools. From Garden Grove, California, to Barberton, Ohio, and home offices across the continent, employees found meaningful ways to support their communities—whether by volunteering, donating essentials, mentoring students, or honoring first responders and veterans.
Cancarb Limited has published a Technical Bulletin that describes the advantages of incorporating Thermax® Thermal Carbon Black in various formulations of polystyrene (PS) foam. The study documents the dispersion and processing benefits of Thermax® and uses similar expansion, density, open-cell content, and compression properties as the control. Adding 4 wt.% thermal black resulted in a ~ 3% reduction in thermal conductivity and a ~ 14% reduction in thermal effusivity.
Cancarb Limited has published a Technical Bulletin that shows how formulating EPDM rubber with Thermax® N990 improves compound dispersion, decreases mixing energy, reduces compound viscosity, and supports potential cost reductions.
