On Thursday, October 23, 2025, RDAbbott hosted a webinar about Dow SILASTIC™ HCRs. During this 53-minute presentation, Jake Steinbrecher and Dave Armstrong of Dow explore how custom SILASTIC™ HCR silicone solutions can be engineered to solve real-world challenges—enabling safer, more efficient, and longer-lasting products.

Thermax® N990CG from Cancarb Limited meets U.S. and European Union (EU) regulations for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), chemicals that have been classified as carcinogenic to humans. Thermax® N990CG meets EU 1272/2013 and EU 10/2011 standards and has a Food Contact Notification (FCN) from the FDA.

Thermax® N990CG medium thermal carbon black meets the requirements for carbon black specified in EU 10/2011, enabling its use in water gaskets. It also carries an effective Food Contact Notification (FCN No. 2420), allowing it to be used in applications covered under CFR 177.2600 rubber articles intended for repeated use. During this session, you’ll learn how Thermax® N990CG can serve as a drop-in replacement for standard N990 in rubber formulations, while ensuring compliance with stringent regulatory requirements for food contact and consumer goods.

Cancarb is underscoring its commitment to sustainability by installing 7,000 solar panels near its carbon black plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. The project will provide the production facility with approximately 3.5 MW of renewable energy and supports the sustainability goals of Cancarb’s parent company and its customers.

NovationSi, RDAbbott’s manufacturing subsidiary, is a leader in custom silicone compounding.
