Parker Lord Webinar Covers Chemlok 701 Castable Urethane Adhesive

Parker Lord is sharing an on-demand webinar about Chemlok^® 701 Adhesive, a one-coat product for bonding castable urethanes and thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) to metals. This new adhesive overcomes traditional limitations and provides increased resistance to water and high temperatures. Parker Lord’s Joseph (JR) Nordstrom, Senior Field Technical Representative, and Brian Carney, Senior Principal Scientist, presented the 26-minute webinar.

New Castable Urethane Adhesives: Chemlok 701 begins by covering the basics of castable urethanes, variables that affect their performance, and industry trends. Castable urethanes have attractive performance properties, but traditional products do not perform as well in hot, wet environments. Elastomers have improved and so have adhesives like Chemlok 701.

This on-demand webinar also covers the fundamentals of mechanical adhesion, curing, and failure modes defined in ASTM D429. Rubber retention is especially important, and Chemlok 701 forms an adhesive bond that’s stronger than polyurethane. During testing, this new product outperformed previous adhesive chemistries and produced robust bonds that can withstand boiling water.

The webinar presenters also shared experimental data about the success of Chemlok 701 with TPUs, elastomers that are used in valves, rollers, wheels, bushings, couplings, seals, hoses, cables, fittings, and gaskets. During injection molding, Chemlok 701 adhesive can bond TPUs to aluminum or steel without the need for primers.
