RDAbbott is announcing the retirement of Scott Legleu, a rubber industry veteran with 43 years of service. Scott joined RDAbbott as a Business Development Manager in 2017 but began his rubber industry career decades earlier after working as a schoolteacher in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Colleagues from across the industry and throughout Scott’s long and successful career describe him as honest, helpful, kind, and a good listener.

RDAbbott has evolved from a regional distributor into a multi-faceted supplier that innovates across distribution, materials science, process engineering, and product customization. In honor of our 75th anniversary, we’ve prepared a special video that encapsulates pivotal milestones in our company’s history and distinguishing hallmarks of our corporate culture.
RDAbbott is celebrating its 75th anniversary and launching a year-long campaign called 75 Acts of Kindness that will give back to its communities, industries, and employees. The company was founded on December 14, 1948, by Robert David Abbott, a Southern California entrepreneur with a passion for education and the local rubber industry. RDAbbott has evolved from a regional distributor into a multi-faceted supplier that innovates across distribution, materials science, process engineering, and product customization. Yet it remains true to its roots of putting people ahead of profit.
Three more RDAbbott leaders have been nominated for an Honorary Lifetime Membership in The Los Angeles Rubber Group, Inc. (TLARGI). The nominees are Keith Thomas, RDAbbott’s CEO; Rick Ziebell, Vice President of Technology and Technical Fellow; and Russ Shorter, Senior Account Manager. TLARGI announced the nominations at its annual Christmas Party, on December 3, 2023.
RDAbbott will educate TV audiences about the past, present, and future of the rubber industry in a five-minute documentary filmed by the Viewpoint Project and hosted by actor Dennis Quaid.
In this five-minute video documentary filmed by the Viewpoint Project, RDAbbott reviews the past, present, and future of the rubber industry. Starting May 2022, this documentary will start airing between longer-form programming on Public Television stations across the United States.
RDAbbott has successfully moved its headquarters from Cerritos, California, to our new location at 11958 Monarch Street in Garden Grove. Although we moved just eight miles, the effort was considerable, and the results demonstrated the value of teamwork.
RDAbbott has been named one of Rubber News’ Best Places to Work in 2021. Rubber News sponsors the competition annually and announced this year’s winners on November 1. This is the second time RDAbbott has been named to the publication’s “Best Places to Work” List, which recognizes rubber industry companies based on employee satisfaction. RDAbbott was also named to this distinguished list in 2019.
RDAbbott recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the headquarters for NovationSi, its manufacturing subsidiary, at 25 Foundation Place in Barberton, Ohio. The 127,126 sq. ft. facility is also the Northeast hub for RDAbbott. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 8:30 AM and followed by guided tours.
