Webinar Recording: “Conductive Silicone Technology”

On Thursday, January 29, 2026, RDAbbott hosted a webinar titled “Conductive Silicone Technology.”

During this 45-minute presentation, Steve Griffin, Director of Business Development at RDAbbott, introduced silicone elastomers engineered by NovationSi for electrical performance—ranging from semi-conductive ESD protection to electrically transmissive EMI/RFI and EMP shielding across a wide range of applications.

This recording is part of RDAbbott’s 2026 Webinar Series, which provides technical insights, materials updates, and processing recommendations from our supplier partners.

Why You Should Watch and Listen

Silicone rubber is widely recognized for its exceptional insulating properties—but with the right material technologies, it can also become an excellent conductor. This presentation explores how the electrical characteristics of silicone elastomers can be fundamentally altered using conductive fillers, enabling new solutions for industries requiring conductivity ranges from static-dissipative up to and including electrostatic dissipation (ESD), and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding.

Viewers will gain insights into:

  • The basics of conductivity and resistivity in silicone elastomers, including key measurement methods and materials science considerations.
  • The importance of filler selection, aspect ratios, and their effects on electrical performance and elastomeric properties.
  • An overview of PURmix® conductive silicone technologies available from NovationSi, including electrically transmissive, static-dissipative, and EMI-shielding silicone compounds.
  • Real-world application examples across medical devices, industrial electronics, transportation, energy storage, and consumer goods.

This presentation provides practical knowledge for engineers and designers looking to leverage conductive silicone technologies for enhanced product performance and market differentiation.
