Rubber Characterization for CAD Webinar is Available On-Demand

“Rubber Characterization for Computer-Aided Design,” a webinar session hosted by Alpha Technologies, is now available on-demand through RDAbbott. Rick Ziebell, Vice President of Technology and Technical Fellow at RDAbbott, explains how to use common types of computer-aided design (CAD) software for chemorheological analysis, plus the modeling of flow and curing, with injection molding. This webinar aired on April 14, 2021.

CAD Software and Rheology Instruments

Through chemorheological analysis, rubber fabricators and design engineers can understand the key quality characteristics of molded rubber parts before an initial prototype is made. Common types of CAD software support this computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis and can use data that is acquired from Alpha Technologies’ instruments. Ziebell’s presentation covers the use of this equipment for CAE and explains how to enter the collected data into different types of CAD software.

Alpha Technologies’ instruments such as a Premiere RPA, a dynamic mechanical rheological tester, provide robust data collection capabilities for chemorheologial analysis.

Listen to the recorded webinar to learn how Alpha Technologies’ instruments and CAD software can:

  • Provide mold designs and process parameters tailored to an elastomer’s rheological properties.
  • Allow accurate cost estimation for quoting new part designs.
  • Build part quality into the design.
  • Shorten time-to-market.
Additional Information

Previously, RDAbbott shared a video about process simulation for liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding that featured Alpha Technologies’ rubber testing equipment. Data was uploaded to SIGMASOFT® virtual molding, a type of 3D CAD software, and was used to make detailed flow predictions and cavity fill simulations that can predict defects.
