A novel silicone material from Dow is helping LumenFlow, a provider of lighting solutions, to improve the accuracy and efficiency of its optical assembly operations. SILASTIC™ MS-1002 Moldable Silicone can withstand the high temperatures of reflow soldering and supports geometries that are not possible with the thermoplastics used in traditional optics.

RDAbbott is a co-organizer, sponsor, and exhibitor for LSR 2022, the premiere conference about liquid silicone rubber (LSR), which can be used with liquid injection molding (LIM) to produce high-quality silicone parts. This year’s event is scheduled for September 13 – 15, 2022, in Irvine, California, and will include technical presentations by RDAbbott and several of its supplier partners. RDAbbott is sharing a recording of their recent webinar titled “SILASTIC™ Fully Fluorinated Liquid Silicone Rubber: Properties, Processing, and Applications” This 41-minute presentation about F-LSR products from Dow was livestreamed on June 16, 2022.

Dow has launched SILASTIC™ MS-5002 Moldable Silicone, a LSR for high-volume production of parts, such as the light guides in adaptive driving beam headlights. This new optical material has very low mold fouling for faster cycle times and is specially formulated for injection molded parts with less-complex geometries.

RDAbbott industry veterans Rick Ziebell and John Carroll will share valuable information and insights at an event where the elite in the silicone industry meet.
