About the Webinar Presenters

Jake Steinbrecher is a globally recognized technical lead in the fields of moldable optical silicones and silicone injection molding. His current focus is developing applications for moldable optical silicones in the automotive and mobility markets, and providing direct support to silicone fabricators. Jake has been a Technical Service & Development Engineer at Dow since 2010. He has been focused on development of silicones for lighting and injection molding during his career with the company. In addition to an emphasis on application development of silicone materials for automotive lighting design and manufacturing, Jake has also provided engineering and sales support for silicone materials used in high-performance LED and LCD display technologies. His expertise includes advanced optical silicone materials as well as related silicone technologies for meeting specialized design requirements in automotive, lighting, and other applications.Prior to joining Dow, Jake worked as an engineer in the heavy equipment industry; after graduating from Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2008.

Gifford Shearer is the Market Manager for Silicone Elastomers in North America at the Dow Chemical Company, where he is responsible for business strategy and innovation portfolio management. His primary markets are automotive, aviation/aerospace, electrical, industrial, and consumer goods. Prior to taking on this role, he held various marketing roles within Dow Corning, including industrial, consumer electronics and wearables. Gifford joined Dow Corning in 2000 after completing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo in Canada. He contributed to the development of TPSiV™ (thermoplastic silicone vulcanizate) and holds 4 U.S. patents. After its acquisition by Dow Corning Gifford was President of Multibase, a compounder of thermoplastic elastomers with operations in U.S., France, India and China.
