RDAbbott and Rubber Division, ACS Celebrate Women in the Rubber Industry with New Video

RDAbbott and Rubber Division, ACS are celebrating women’s contributions to the rubber industry with a powerful new video. The video debuted during the October 21st “Women of Rubber” event at the 2020 International Elastomer Conference.

Along with RDAbbott and Rubber Division, ACS, the video’s sponsors include TSE Industries, Hallstar, Dow Silicones, Parker LORD, Cancarb Limited, 3M, Alpha Technologies, Dalian Richon, and TA Instruments.

Featuring short clips and still images of women throughout the rubber industry, this video celebrates the diverse contributions women are making as scientists, executives, and engineers, and as leaders in marketing, sales, manufacturing, warehousing, and beyond. The video also highlights women from the past and present rubber industry with experiences ranging from one to forty-three years.

This fast-paced video is set to music and designed to appeal to high school and college students through the Rubber Division’s year-round Student Outreach Program. The video will also be shared throughout the Local Rubber Groups of Rubber Division, ACS. Additional promotional efforts via social media and other digital channels are also planned.

During the video’s production, several of the women featured in the video were asked “What drew you to the rubber industry, and what has made your career in the industry rewarding?” Here’s how two of the female professionals responded to this question:

“I enjoy the challenge of often being the only woman in the room and challenging perspectives just by doing work I love,” responded Taylor Phillips, Laboratory Technician at Cancarb Limited.

“Success in this industry requires determination, hard work and effort,” wrote Veselinka Mitevska, Technical Manager at TSE Industries, “but if you are driven and passionate, it is worthwhile.”

Cheers to all the women of the rubber industry and the innumerable ways they are changing our world.
