RDAbbott has hired Humberto Ibáñez as Senior Account Manager for R.D. Abbott de México. Ibáñez joined RDAbbott’s México subsidiary on June 6, 2023, and is responsible for developing business relationships, fostering sales growth, and providing technical support to customers in México. Ibáñez brings strong technical sales skills to his new role and has many years of experience selling Cancarb Limited’s Thermax® brand medium thermal carbon blacks.

Join us August 15 – 18 in Barberton, Ohio, for “Manufacturing with Silicone Rubber,” a comprehensive workshop hosted by RDAbbott from a fabricator’s point-of-view. Attendees of this four-day workshop will learn practical techniques, testing methods, and insights, plus equipment troubleshooting tips for processing silicone rubber, from industry professionals through a combination of classroom instruction and interactive workshops.

In this upcoming webinar, Dr. Noel Chang, Technical Service and Development Leader for Dow Consumer Solutions, and Dr. Jessica Ding, the Marketing Manager for Dow, will describe SILASTIC™ 921X LSR Series for sealing that’s compatible with connector housings made of flame-retardant plastics.

NovationSi, the manufacturing subsidiary for RDAbbott, has named Brian Swanton as Director of Process Engineering. Swanton holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technology University and has over 28 years of silicone experience, including extensive service with Dow and Dupont. Swanton holds multiple patents and has developed or scaled up at least forty products, which now represent a minimum of $100M in annual sales.

NovationSi, the manufacturing subsidiary for RDAbbott, has named Steve Hersey Plant Manager. Prior to joining NovationSi, Hersey was the General Manager for HEXPOL Compounding in Akron, Ohio. While at HEXPOL, he managed substantial volume growth over four years and sales revenue experienced exponential growth during his tenure. Hersey brings a veteran approach to silicone manufacturing as he began his HEXPOL career as a Lead Operator and later served as a Production Supervisor. He has also owned a construction business and worked as an Operations Lead for Portage Precision Polymers before it was acquired by HEXPOL.

The mobility industry is rapidly transforming, driven by the accelerating adoption rate of electric vehicles and the need for more sustainable material science solutions. This 1-hour presentation introduces a new series of selective adhesion liquid silicone rubber from Dow that is targeted to improve efficiency in designing and fabricating various automotive seals.

Dow discusses the future of mobility in its “Seek Together” Podcast. Host Eva Saha is joined by Tim Boven, Dow’s Global MobilityScience™ Director, and James Barclay of the Jaguar TCS Racing Team.
