Cancarb Limited has earned a 2024 Sustainability Leadership Award from EcoVadis, a global provider of corporate and environmental scorecards. Cancarb received a Platinum Sustainability Rating from EcoVadis, the highest possible rating, in both 2021 and 2023. RDAbbott represents Cancarb’s Thermax® medium thermal carbon blacks in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

For the second time in three years, Cancarb Limited has received the highest possible sustainability rating from EcoVadis, a global provider of corporate and environmental scorecards. Cancarb’s Platinum Sustainability Rating indicates that the maker of Thermax® medium thermal carbon black is in the top 1% of rated suppliers.

Employees of Cancarb Limited in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, have donated 18 new and gently used adult and children’s bicycle helmets to a local non-profit organization. The cyclists among Cancarb identified a community need for greater bicycle safety and presented the donation to the Saamis Immigration Services Association.

Electrical resistivity is an important property for various EPDM applications, such as wire and cable, battery and fuel cell gaskets, and automotive profiles. To achieve the specified electrical resistivity values in these applications, it is necessary to replace smaller particle size furnace blacks with mineral fillers and/or larger particle size carbon blacks. This 47-minute presentation highlights the results of Cancarb’s technical study that compared blends of hard clay, Thermax® N990, and N550, and evaluated how the size, structure, and surface chemistry of these filler systems impact the insulative and conductive behaviors of the EPDM compounds.

Ibáñez joined RDAbbott’s México subsidiary on June 6, 2023, and is responsible for developing business relationships, fostering sales growth, and providing technical support to customers in México. Ibáñez brings strong technical sales skills to his new role and has many years of experience selling Cancarb Limited’s Thermax® brand medium thermal carbon blacks.

It is part of RDAbbott’s 2022 Webinar Series, which provided technical insights and processing recommendations from its supplier partners.

Cancarb makes a thermal carbon black, Thermax® N990CG, with low levels of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), substances that are listed as carcinogens. Production of this rubber additive also helps Cancarb’s local community to reduce its fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
