Cancarb received a Platinum Sustainability Rating from EcoVadis, the highest possible rating, in both 2021 and 2023. Cancarb Limited has published a Technical Bulletin that shows how Thermax® N990, a medium thermal carbon black, improves compounding and boosts the performance of EPDM gaskets for polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cells. The benefits of adding Thermax® N990 to EPDM include good compression set, low-temperature flexibility, and increased resistance to heat and chemicals.
Cancarb Limited has published a Technical Bulletin with the results of Concrete Water Immersion and Accelerated Weather Testing. The test compared the use of Thermax® N990, a medium thermal carbon black, and CARBOCOLOR®, a concrete colorant, to black iron oxide in concrete. The Cancarb products provided superior tint strength and weather resistance.

Cancarb Limited celebrated its 50th anniversary this year with a $50,000 donation to the Cancarb Employee and Alumni Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSA).
Employees of Cancarb Limited in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, have donated 18 new and gently used adult and children’s bicycle helmets to a local non-profit organization. The cyclists among Cancarb identified a community need for greater bicycle safety and presented the donation to the Saamis Immigration Services Association.
Electrical resistivity is an important property for various EPDM applications, such as wire and cable, battery and fuel cell gaskets, and automotive profiles. To achieve the specified electrical resistivity values in these applications, it is necessary to replace smaller particle size furnace blacks with mineral fillers and/or larger particle size carbon blacks. This 47-minute presentation highlights the results of Cancarb’s technical study that compared blends of hard clay, Thermax® N990, and N550, and evaluated how the size, structure, and surface chemistry of these filler systems impact the insulative and conductive behaviors of the EPDM compounds.

Ibáñez joined RDAbbott’s México subsidiary on June 6, 2023, and is responsible for developing business relationships, fostering sales growth, and providing technical support to customers in México.
